Apprenticeships

This is where you could be employed by an NHS Wales Organisation, you would have been recruited via trac.jobs. By joining NHS Wales Finance through this route, you could gain an Association of Accounting Technician (AAT) qualification whilst working, learning and earning.

What is an Apprenticeship?

An apprenticeship combines on-the-job, practical work experience with study.

As an apprentice, you’ll be employed to work while studying a formal qualification. You’ll learn from experienced colleagues, gain practical skills, achieve a qualification that employers want and earn a salary at the same time.

Each organisation will offer different apprenticeship levels, and the length of employment may differ depending on what’s on offer (one, two or three-year schemes).  Make sure you read any adverts carefully, to understand what you are applying for.

Here is an overview of each level:

AAT LEVEL 2

The Certificate in Accounting comprises: Introduction to Bookkeeping and Principles of Bookkeeping controls, which give a foundation in financial accounting; Principles of Costing, covering the basics of the preparation of costing information that is used in Management Accounting; and The Business Environment, an introduction to the wider aspects of business and the economy.
