Further Development Opportunities

To help you grow within a role in NHS Wales Finance, there are events designed to develop your skills and enhance your learning, complimentary to the programme or role you are currently in. Here are some examples of development opportunities on offer when working in NHS Wales Finance....

Finance Academy Conference and Workshop Day

This event runs annually and as with the above brings together a significant number of finance colleagues for a one day event usually in February. For several years now we have also run a very successful workshop day in June often showcasing the work of colleagues across Wales who support the Finance Academy programme of work which we will continue running in the future.

SNQ+

In 2022 we relaunched our student network and have exciting plans for this group of staff. You will see in the study principles that acceptance of the support we offer implies an expectation that you will actively engage and participate in the activities of this group and as graduates on a development programme you will find many activities will be mandated for you.

All Wales Publicly Funded Student Finance Conference

Another annual event, this is planned to run in Cardiff in December and brings together students from finance functions across publicly funded organisations in Wales including Wales Audit Office, Welsh Government, Local Government, Fire and Police Services and non-devolved bodies such as the DVLA and the ONS.

The Finance Academy also has a programme of learning including lunch and learn events for all finance staff. You will be able to attend these events through your organisation, including those targeted specifically for students where you will join the other finance staff in NHS Wales who are studying finance exams through a number of routes. For the lunch and  learn series of events for both students and wider function we would expect you to attend.
